Cologne. 16 March 2023. For reasons that are well known, Jenny And The Mexicats have been unable to tour Germany and Central Europe for the past 3½ years. Now, this long wait is finally over for the band and their fans.

As they have already done in the USA and their home country of Mexico, they are now on tour for the first time with their album *Fiesta Ancestral*, which was released just as the pandemic began.

To mark the occasion, the first vinyl edition of the album was also released, featuring three bonus tracks, including the track ‘Labios’, which also features on the soundtrack to Sönke Wortmann’s latest film, ‘Der Nachname’.

The band was formed in Madrid by the Mexicans Icho and Pantera, who had previously moved to Spain with their punk band from Mexico City, along with the Spaniard David and the British singer and trumpeter Jenny. Soon after the band was formed, they returned to Mexico, making it their home base, where they quickly worked their way up from small venues to the country’s biggest stages.

The release of their first, self-titled album in 2012 brought them immediate, massive success and the two big hits “Verde Más Allá” and “Me Voy a Ir”. Since then, Jenny And The Mexicats have become a fixture on Mexico’s major stages and at its biggest festivals. In the years that followed, they also conquered neighbouring countries, including the USA. In 2017, they took the logical next step into continental Europe and beyond the Spanish-speaking world.

The band’s first European tours took them not only to Spain but also to Germany, England, Austria, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands, where they left behind enthusiastic concert-goers everywhere they went. This is because, alongside influences from traditional Latin American music, cumbia, flamenco, rockabilly, jazz and reggae, the Mexicats’ music is almost always absolutely danceable. As a result, their concerts inevitably turn into exuberant parties.

Now, after a (far) too long enforced break, Jenny And The Mexicats are returning to Europe at the end of May and beginning of June for a handful of concerts, to reconnect with fans and friends and, no doubt, win over plenty of new ones.
