Flamenco meets Metalcore.
Pantera, whose real name is Alfonso Acosta, is a Mexican guitarist, composer, and producer based in Madrid and a co-founder of Jenny and the Mexicats. With his solo project, he doesn’t reconcile two worlds – he lets them collide: distortion, flamenco rhythms, and darkness combine to create a raw, visceral, and uncompromising sound. With “Trece”, he takes this clash to the extreme – to the point where the tradition of flamenco meets the brutality of metalcore.
His musical journey began in punk and metal before he delved deep into the roots of flamenco. In his hometown in Mexico, he played in rockabilly and punk bands with bassist Luis “Icho” Díaz for many years. In Madrid, his versatile flamenco technique led him to Jenny and the Mexicats: The band was formed in 2008 as a result of this encounter, and Pantera remains their guitarist and co-songwriter to this day.
As a member of Jenny and the Mexicats, he embodies a colorful mix of flamenco, jazz, rockabilly, reggae, and cumbia. In his own project, he showcases the dark, loud side of his musical roots.
