Jenny And The Mexicats Release their Album „Ten Spins Round the Sun“

Jenny And The Mexicats are already celebrating their tenth anniversary as a band this year. Although they only became known to a wider audience in this country last year, following their two tours and the release of their latest album, *Mar Abierto/Open Sea*, they have long been a household name in their native Mexico, in Latin and North America, and in Spain.

The band was formed in Madrid by the Mexicans Icho and Pantera, who had previously moved to Spain with their punk band from Mexico City, along with the Spaniard David and the British singer and trumpeter Jenny. Shortly after the band was formed, they returned to – or moved to – Mexico, where they worked their way up from small venues. The release of their first, self-titled album in 2012 brought them immediate, massive success with the two hits “Verde Más Allá” and “Me Voy a Ir”. Since then, the band has become a fixture on Mexico’s major stages and at its festivals, and in the years that followed they went on to conquer neighbouring countries, including the USA. In 2017, they took the logical next step into continental Europe and beyond the Spanish-speaking world.

To mark the band’s 10th anniversary, the retrospective album *10 Spins Around the Sun* will be released on 21 September. The album features tracks from the three albums released to date, as well as singles previously available only digitally, such as the Mexicats’ version of the Mexican traditional ‘La Bruja’ and the recent, successful remix of the song ‘La Primera Despedida’ by the legendary drum ’n’ bass producers Deep Inc. The tracks and hits from the first two albums, such as “Verde Más Allá”, “Me Voy a Ir”, “Labios”, “Boulevard” and “Starting Something”, are also available on CD in Europe for the first time on “10 Spins …”.

The release of the album coincides with the Mexicats’ biggest tour to date in Germany and Europe. There are 12 concerts in Germany alone scheduled from 20 September onwards, plus further concerts in Vienna, Zurich, Amsterdam, Budapest and Bratislava.
