Arabic-French singer-songwriter pop. The German-Syrian singer and rapper Amouri and the German-French chanson duo toi et moi are releasing their collaborative single "Mutayam". The song, sung in Arabic, tells the story of a hopeless crush and has a dreamy, floating quality thanks to toi et moi’s signature acoustic sound. Double bass, acoustic guitar, drums, trumpet, and a light ska off-beat – it’s all about spring fever.

With their "Nouvelle Chansons", featuring a multifaceted sound and poetic lyrics, the Cologne-based duo toi et moi has long since carved out a place for themselves in the German music scene. Their new album, "Mon Armoire", is a fascinating journey through the diversity of human experience.

In "ton chien" (your dog), Raphaël offers a humorous yet ironic reflection on desperate romances in which one reduces oneself to whining, "I wanna be your… dog", just to "get another bone to gnaw on."

With these words, Raphaël speaks to the hearts of at least 80% of Cologne’s residents right from the first verse of the single. After all, anyone who lives in Cologne knows what a love-hate relationship is – even without ever having been in one.

With warmth and tender urgency, toi et moi paint one of life’s greatest emotions onto the canvas of sound through words and music: a parent’s love and hopes for their own child.

"Mon Armoire" continues toi et moi's evolution toward increasingly multifaceted songs, in this case moving from an acoustic duo to an energetic pop song (the trumpet!) that sings of the memories held within one's own old closet (armoire).

"Le Carnaval de Cologne (Och op Kölsch)" is a collaboration between toi et moi and the Cologne-based band Loup & Hecker. The track brings two worlds together: toi et moi’s French-inspired acoustic sound meets Cologne’s traditional songs and dialect – a musical bridge between France and the Rhineland, perfectly suited to the fifth season.

"We were more than happy to accept the request to record a stripped-down live session of three songs from our current album, "l’univers parallèle", for a radio show! Just under a year after the original recording and after playing these songs at numerous concerts, we’ve developed an even better feel for the tempo, mood, and groove of the songs. By stripping the arrangements down to just a few instruments, we’ve created these stripped-down versions of the three songs, and we’re very happy with them.”

The past two years of uncertainty and isolation have allowed toi et moi to open new doors, give fresh ideas room to breathe, and break free in many ways, both big and small. The risk was worth it; "L'Univers Parallèle" showcases the duo’s enormous versatility and creativity.
