FANATICO X was formed in 2010 from a remix by Mathias Schaffhäuser for the album “Catholic” by the duo of the same name, consisting of Patrick Cowley and Jorge Socarrás. Mathias and Jorge didn’t even know each other at the time – yet the creative chemistry was there from the start, and that spontaneous encounter turned into a partnership that has since produced several albums and EPs.

With their third album “Beneath Your Feet” – their first release on GMO – the duo traverses music history both stylistically and chronologically: The title track evokes an earthy sense of urgency in a world gone haywire, while poems by Nietzsche and Garcia Lorca serve as the starting points for the songs “Oh to Roam” and “Y Despues”. The album also features two cover versions from different decades: Jefferson Airplane’s “White Rabbit” in a darker, pulsating arrangement, as well as “Searching” by Socarrás’ former band Indoor Life, which is reimagined as “Still Searching” with a Hi-NRG vibe. Pedal-steel guitarist Bob Hoffnar, who also appeared on the previous album, makes a guest appearance.

“Beneath Your Feet” not only continues the story of FANATICO X, but also that of Mathias Schaffhäuser’s solo album “Singing About It” from last year – both projects inspired each other to write songs with vocals again after years of club-focused productions.
