FANATICO X was born in 2010 from a remix Mathias Schaffhäuser created for the album Catholic by the duo Patrick Cowley and Jorge Socarrás. Although Mathias and Jorge did not know each other at the time, their creative chemistry was extraordinary from the start, leading to a partnership that has produced several albums and EPs.

Jorge Socarrás is an icon of experimental music. Born in New York City, his career began in the 1970s with the duo Catholic, which he co-founded with synthpop legend Patrick Cowley, a pioneer of electronic music. Together, they shaped their era with an avant-garde blend of electronic sounds and poetic lyrics. In the 1980s, Jorge continued his journey as a vocalist and lyricist with the experimental band Indoor Life, which toured both the U.S. and Europe. Simultaneously, he served as musical director for the New York City Contemporary Ballet and WilliWear fashion shows.

During the AIDS crisis, Jorge took a break from music to co-found the iconic Silence=Death Collective. Returning to music in the mid-1990s, he embarked on collaborations with artists such as Soft Rocks, Nico Nightingale, and Ted Ottaviano, while also working as a guest vocalist and curator. His partnership with Mathias Schaffhäuser in FANATICO X seamlessly continues his rich and multifaceted career.

Mathias Schaffhäuser has been a staple of the techno, house, and minimal music scene for nearly three decades. He gained international acclaim with hits like Hey Little Girl and Coincidance. In October 2024, he released his 10th solo album, Singing About It, which marked a stylistic shift toward indie/art-pop songs. His collaboration with Jorge Socarrás represents another dimension of his artistic work, uniting two extraordinary careers in a unique project.
