Sarria's success is mainly due to his distinctive and unique sound, inspired by many classic rock bands (The Doors, Pink Floyd, Beatles), modern acts (The Lemon Twigs, Parcels, Wilco), artists from his Andalusian homeland and a touch of the best of the psychedelic era of the 60s and 70s. These influences can be spotted especially in his energetic guitar riffs and his powerful voice, both of which combine creative tones and captivating lyrics to reach audiences of all ages.
Already in his first, self-produced studio album "Sarria" (2021), the Spaniard managed to capture a unique energy in his songs that originates from a fusion of great emotions and atmospheric, timeless compositions. With that first debut album Sarria proved his ability to move between genres skillfully and with the determination of an experienced musician. This may not come as a surprise to the listener, since Sarria was already touring internationally with the popular band Los Labios (Seville, Spain) at the age of 20, playing rhythm guitar and doing background vocals.
In "El Mundo Es Cruel (pero creo en él)" ["The world is cruel (but I believe in it)"] one can notice a notable further development of his artistry. Without ignoring his musical roots, Sarria successfully adds elements of reggae (in "Mi Amor...") and disco (in "Flor") to his original sound. The songs shimmer with glittering power-pop guitars, vintage vocal textures and infectious melodies that seem to pick up where the Byrds or The Beach Boys left off. Sarria describes his music as "retrofuturistic rock" - a very personal, fresh and contemporary style. Consequently, “talent” and “authenticity” are the words that best define Sarria as a musician - as a musician born to revitalize rock.
Sarria will begin his run of Spanish shows in April 2024, playing at some of the most prestigious festivals in the country. In June, he will travel to Germany for his first showcase concerts there.
"El Mundo Es Cruel (pero creo en él)" is availabe digitally since today and will be sold on vinyl in mid April in Germany. The album is being distributed and released in the German-speaking countries by GMO - The Label, while the Spanish label Esmerarte is responsible for the release internationally. “El Mundo Es Cruel (pero creo en él)” was mixed by John Agnello (Sonic Youth, Dream Syndicate, Dinosaur Jr., Aerosmith, Kurt Vile) and mastered at the legendary Sterling Sound Studios (John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Ramones). The cover was designed by Álvaro Martín (Mosh Illustration).
